Happy days with Linda Blair and friends…

Alright, here’s another ‘Things That Make Me Happy’ post for you.

Pop lyrics.

Well, not all pop lyrics. Most of them make you want to cut off your ears, curl up in a corner and go all Linda Blair* – but this is supposed to be a happy column, so, we’ll ignore 99% of all pop lyrics out there and make a list of nice little sound-bites, with video clips attached.

That is, I’ll do that.

You just sit back and watch.

Enjoy:

1) ‘Devoted collectors of paraphernalia out walking the rock
Battle and bitch for the ultimate kitsch of a crucifix clock
Two miniature Romans, running on rails
Appear every hour and bang in the nails
Oh, I’ve got to have it, Christ, I gotta be the first on our block’

2) ‘and all the lousy little poets
coming round
tryin’ to sound like Charlie Manson
yeah the white man dancin’.’

3) There’s a guy works down the chip shop swears he’s Elvis
Just like you swore to me that you’d be true
There’s a guy works down the chip shop swears he’s Elvis
But he’s a liar and I’m not sure about you

4) Everybody cried the night I left
Well almost everybody did
My little boy just hung his head
And I put my arm put my arm around his little shoulder
And this is what I said:
“Sonny I just want you to hurt like I do”

5) ‘Well I put my money in your meter baby so it wont run down,
But you got me in a squeeze play on the cheesy side of town.
Throw me line, now show me a sign.
Cause there’s a fat man in the bathtub with the blues’

Okay, this one I found when I was looking for something else:

‘Tina, I love you baby
like the flower loves the spring
I love you baby
rivers deep, mountains high’

No great shakes as lyrics, I admit but a fun clip – so, we’ll end today’s post with it anyway:

*And isn’t she the spitting image of her father…?
