Hey i live in Mexico, and we are experiencing a very serious and violent war on drugs were lots more people die every day than in Irak, and even when there wasnt a war on drugs here violence was always around (with drugs being illegal and all) this causes crime, which involves guns, and a very dangerous amount of power at the reach of every war lord.
SO YEAH IT WOULD BE AWESOME IF DRUGS WERE LEGAL!!! All do drug lords make mnuch mnore money and recieve much more power this way, cus they pay no taxes what so ever so i dont think they would allow it, and neither would the american government, oh yeah cus the united states controls the shit out of us!!!

Like every other aspect of society, it all should come down to freedom of choice, as long as the choice doesnt impact anyone but yourself. At one point drugs were just another part of soicety, no one thought of them as evil, wrong or dangerous as many of them come from nature. It's when you tell someone that they cant that they begin to question why. This is what is happening in the world today as far a drug culture is concerned. Pot was made illegal using false premises to exhibit reasons for it to be illegal. Many of these "facts" were in fact fabricated untruths that through public investigation soceity is discovering that are false. If you dont realize how false many of the things you know about nugget try visiting this site, http://www.drugpolicy.org/marijuana/factsmyths/. Here you can see many of these facts disproved by accomplished doctors who have been published on the issue. In the end though one must escape looking just at reasons for not legalizing and begin to look at reasons for legaliing. For a person who recreationally smokes pot is just as productive in society as one who recreationally drinks. Pot doesnt make lazy people, some lazy ass people smoke pot. I go to a top enineering univesity in this country and pot usage is very active here. These are the people who will be your bosses in the future and yes they got there all while smoking pot. So educate yourself on the issue of legalization before you begin to talk becase there a few to no negative impacts that pot may have on society. Im 20 as of now in my life and i garentee i will see pot become legal because as more and more peopl try and scientifically investigate marijuana they find that the benifits outway any and all risks. And just to clarify one thing a pot head isnt a pot smoker. A POT HEAD IS THE EQUIVALET OF AN ALCOHOLIC. Neither are really that productive and an alcoholic is actually a danger to society in many cases as 50 % of murders in this country are alcohol relate

In a truely free society, it is none of the government's business what the citizens smoke, inject or injest, providing the rights of another are not violated in the process.

Also, in a truely free society, it is none of the government's business how much money the citizen makes, how its made or how its spent, with the same proviso ... that the rights of another are not violated in the process.

Free the weed and tax it? Hell with that ... just free the weed and forget the taxes.

Drew, thanks for the comment.

I would agree with you that it might be better to outlaw some drugs (like crack). But I think you could only manage that if you legalise the rest. When all drugs are illegal you can't really focus on the really horrible stuff. When most drugs are legal though it should be easier to control those few truly horrific ones.

No guarantees, of course but at least a reasonable chance,
J.
