Beckham be cool: straight from the Dogg’s mouth

Right, remember David Beckham?
No, let’s start with his new best mate – remember Snoop Dogg?
Or no, better: remember Don Imus?
![]()
Yes, let’s start there. It’s almost a year ago that the following conversation went out live on air:
From the April 4 edition of MSNBC’s Imus in the Morning:
IMUS: So, I watched the basketball game last night between — a little bit of Rutgers and Tennessee, the women’s final.
ROSENBERG: Yeah, Tennessee won last night — seventh championship for [Tennessee coach] Pat Summitt, I-Man. They beat Rutgers by 13 points.
IMUS: That’s some rough girls from Rutgers. Man, they got tattoos and –
McGUIRK: Some hard-core hos.
IMUS: That’s some nappy-headed hos there. I’m gonna tell you that now, man, that’s some — woo. And the girls from Tennessee, they all look cute, you know, so, like — kinda like — I don’t know.
McGUIRK: A Spike Lee thing.
IMUS: Yeah.
McGUIRK: The Jigaboos vs. the Wannabes — that movie that he had.
IMUS: Yeah, it was a tough –
Well, you know the rest. He got fired, made his excuses and, in the end, he got back on air, of course.
Anyway, enough of the Don.
Over to Snoop Dogg.
Now, during the Imus brouhaha various pundits and celebs were asked what they thought of the whole thing.

Here’s what our Snoop had to say:
Snoop Dogg told MTV that Imus deserved to be fired but rappers can keep talking about “ho’s.” That’s because the Rutgers players are upwardly-mobile athletes, Snoop said, but rappers are referring to “ho’s that’s in the ‘hood that ain’t doing sh–.”
“It’s a completely different scenario,” said Snoop. “[Rappers] are not talking about no collegiate basketball girls who have made it to the next level in education and sports. We’re talking about ho’s that’s in the ‘hood that ain’t doing sh–, that’s trying to get a n—a for his money. These are two separate things. First of all, we ain’t no old-ass white men that sit up on MSNBC going hard on black girls. We are rappers that have these songs coming from our minds and our souls that are relevant to what we feel. I will not let them mutha—-as say we in the same league as him.”
No doubt.
So, wanna hear the latest thing that’s come out of his mind and soul – something that’s highly relevant to what he feels, I’m sure?
Well, it has to do with his new mate, David Beckham – and names; nicknames, to be precise.
On this ole Snoop must be seen like the ultimate expert. I mean, how cool is it, to sport a name that’s just a Beagle’s whisker removed from that of Charlie Brown’s dog…?
Anyway, here’s what the Dogg had to say:
VICTORIA BECKHAM has started calling her hubby “D Beck” after rapper SNOOP DOGG declared his real name DULL.
The hip-hop star, 36, invented the nickname to “ghetto-ise” pal DAVID, 32 — and Posh, 33, loves it.
A source said: “Snoop thought the name David was a bit boring, and he wasn’t too impressed by Becks either.
“Now Posh is calling him D Beck too.”
